The blue of Pelikan's Edelstein line, named for the stone. Edelstein is German for precious stone, and each ink in the collection takes its color from one. Sapphire is a royal blue with a clear violet lean — it goes down looking distinctly purple and settles toward blue as it dries, landing somewhere between navy and violet rather than in a neutral blue. It shades well for a blue, and shows a red sheen in saturated areas on coated paper. Comes in Edelstein's weighted glass bottle, curved and heavy enough to sit steady on a desk.
