Kakimori Metal Nib - Brass
Kakimori Metal Nib - Brass
The brass nib was created as a durable and practical nib. The nib point has been rounded and polished with meticulous care, providing an exceptionally smooth writing experience that defies expectation. Tilt the nib below 45 degrees to create undulating lines and paint strokes. Made to universal specifications to fit all standard nib holders, as well as those from our range.
*Nib only — nib holder sold separately.
Pair with Kakimori Pigment Inks and nib holder
Use and care:
- Initial ink flow may be slow due to the protective coating on the nib and will gradually improve with repeat rinsing and ink application.
- The maximum writing angle is 45 degrees.
- When removing the nib from the nib holder, gently pull it out while turning to avoid dislodging the nib mount.
- Strong impact to the precision-made nib may compromise ink flow.
- To prevent the build-up of dry ink in the grooves, rinse frequently in water during use.
- To remove stubborn dry ink, gently scrub in water with a soft toothbrush.
- If using detergent, a pH neutral detergent is recommended. Avoid alkaline detergents as they will damage the surface.
- Brass will develop a natural patina over time.

I've only just rec'd my brass nib today but I've written and swatched with it quite a bit for an afternoon. It is a dream. I've read a lot of reviews and have seen that a number of people mention a heavy ink flow to begin. I did not have this problem. Expecting the problem, after submerging the nib, I tapped the nib holder against the lip of the ink bottle. No gushes. Writes like a dream! I bought both stainless and brass. Brass is much smoother!
At first I found the brass nib hard to use. I try to use it everyday and listen to people on YouTube talk about their experiences. Today January 04, 2024 was the first day I got a good experience with it. I believe understanding how to use the nib is key to success. I’m very satisfied and would like to purchase the other metal nib.

Could not be happier :)
Beautiful. Got this along with the Kakimori steel nib and two nib holders. Great service. The Kakimori dip pens are beautiful and write superbly.
The nib holds plenty of ink but it comes off on to the paper more than it should. It feathers horribly.
